The World Alliance of Pituitary Organizations is an independent non-profit umbrella patient organization. At this moment (2017) there are no possibilities to receive financial support from the national government (Netherlands) or international governments, or even European Union at Brussels, Belgium.
Therefore, the Board of Directors decided “when one intends to run a project, the project manager (responsible person from the Board of Directors) will have to take care of the funding requests and raise finances first”.
The ’WAPO Summit’ by the WAPO foundation:
The responsible Director will start making inquiries for funding at pharmaceutical companies. If raised enough potential funds (not yet received), the Board of Directors decide whether the Summit is a “GO or NO GO”. After a positive decision, the preparations will start.
By receiving financial support from several pharmaceutical companies, WAPO will stay ‘independent’ and avoids being influenced by one specific pharmaceutical company on the action or project plan.
The financing procedure applies for all projects within the World Alliance of Pituitary Organizations association and/or the WAPO Summit foundation.
Another way to raise extra funding is by putting a ‘Donate button’ on the WAPO website. This might invite visitors of the website to donate. A separate page opens on the website when pushed on the ‘Donate button’. People can choose from several amounts of money – in a multiple-choice program – to donate including additional or payment required information.
The received money by the ‘Donate button’ will be used for the World Alliance of Pituitary Organizations’ Action plans and for the projects which are in profit for all WAPO member organizations.
